Investing in our communities

It’s important for us to give back to the communities where we live and work. Carolina Handling’s Georgia office is based in DeKalb County, where TAG works to help individuals and families in need.

In August, the organization held the Back-to-School Health Expo. Our service coordinator, Catrina Thompson Fuller, volunteered her time at the event, supporting her desire to “become an active member of my community.” Carolina Handling also made a $250 donation.

The expo raised money to purchase and distribute school supplies to underprivileged children living in neighborhoods within the Towers High School district boundaries. Volunteers were also on hand to help families with other school enrollment needs, like setting up hearing and vision screenings and dental appointments.

The Towers Action Group is part of a larger organization, the DeKalb Sustainable Neighborhood Initiative (DSNI), which aims to foster a collaborative, community-based approach to improving the quality of life in DeKalb’s neighborhoods.

Towers District residents, business owners, and community members lead TAG. The group’s mission is to enhance the quality of life in the Towers District through community investment and engagement in safety, education, economic development, and healthy living.

TAG collaborates with various volunteer organizations in the county, too. This includes Partners in Action for Healthy Living (PAHL), Inc., a group that works to empower South DeKalb County residents to make healthy choices by increasing access to healthy food, encouraging active lifestyles, and promoting community building.
